Veterinary Diagnostic Lab

At Beloit Veterinary Hospital, we have advanced tools to help accurately diagnose your pet's medical issues. We proudly offer various services, including digital X-rays, ultrasounds, and bloodwork, that help our vet diagnose medical issues and create pet treatment plans.

With our diagnostic imaging capabilities, we can efficiently produce accurate diagnostic information about your cat or dog's condition and provide immediate treatment options.

Technology does more than help us determine issues affecting your pet's health. With cold laser therapy, our vet will pass a wand that emits a low-intensity laser or light-emitting diodes (LEDs) over your pet's body. This can help improve the healing process while minimizing symptoms like pain.

Diagnostic & Lab Technology, Beloit Vet

Our Diagnostic Services for Pets

With our in-house veterinary diagnostic lab, we offer advanced diagnostic testing to allow our vet to diagnose pet's medical issues accurately.

  • Radiography (Digital X-rays)

Using a radiograph (digital X-ray), we can examine your pet's internal systems to reveal information that may be invisible from the outside.

Radiography is safe, painless and non-invasive. It uses only very low doses of radiation. Because the radiation exposure required to perform radiography is very low, even pregnant females and very young pets can undergo this procedure.

Radiographs can evaluate bones and organs and diagnose conditions, including broken bones, chronic arthritis, bladder stones, spinal cord diseases and some tumors.

  • Ultrasound

Diagnostic imaging allows our veterinary professionals to create detailed images of your pet's internal structures.

With ultrasound imaging, we expose part of the body to high-frequency sound waves to produce images of the inside of the body.

Because we capture ultrasound images in real-time, we can see the structure and movement of your pet's internal organs and blood flowing through the blood vessels.

  • Bloodwork

With our vet lab in Beloit, we can run several common and specialized blood tests to determine your pet's health and diagnose illness.

Our most common veterinary blood tests are CBC (complete blood count), white blood cell count, hemoglobin and MCHC (mean corpuscular hemoglobin concentration), hematocrit, platelets, eosinophils, and blood serum profile.

  • Urinalysis

Urinalysis is a key diagnostic test that gives your vet essential insights into your animal's urine's physical and chemical properties.

Urinalysis is primarily used to assess the health of your animal's kidneys and urinary tract system. Still, it can also help detect issues in other organ systems and is important for diagnosing metabolic diseases such as diabetes.

This is a valuable diagnostic test for healthy and sick animals and should be included in any comprehensive evaluation of your companion's overall health.

  • EKG (Electrocardiogram)

If your veterinarian performs a physical examination and suspects your animal may have a heart disorder, we usually take chest X-rays and an electrocardiogram (EKG).

This procedure can be completed easily and quickly. It reveals data that may be integral to a patient's diagnosis. In other cases, a cardiac ultrasound may be required to identify disorders in the heart's chambers.

  • Digital Dental X-Rays

If your animal suffers from periodontal disease, much of this damage occurs below the gum line, which can't be easily seen. Digital dental X-rays help our veterinarians assess your pet's oral health.

Digital X-rays allow our veterinary professionals to examine the roots, bones and internal anatomy of your pet's teeth.

With digital X-rays, a patient's risk of radiation exposure is significantly lower than with traditional X-ray technology. We can see below the surface of your pet's gum line to evaluate each tooth fully.

This technology allows the vets at Beloit Veterinary Hospital to see results immediately and then project them onto a computer screen for review.

  • Cold Laser Therapy

Cold laser therapy utilizes a low-intensity laser or LEDs to relieve pain, stimulate cell function, and enhance healing. This therapy can benefit conditions such as muscle and joint pain, arthritis symptoms, and muscle spasms.

It also encourages cell regeneration and boosts circulation, which aids in wound healing, reduces inflammation and pain, enhances blood vessel formation, increases blood flow, reduces swelling, and promotes bone healing.
